What parents wrote on the feedback cards after three days of birding, building, and shipping real things.
Kiaan was reluctant at the beginning but got absorbed in the game building straight away and iterating it. Kudos on how you brought in the birds/bird watching into the AI camp. In the end there was something for everyone. A great way to introduce the concepts and workings of AI to a 9 yo. I would make it longer (haha!) to allow the kids to absorb in the biases and how to CRITICALLY analyze what AI throws at them. THANK YOU!
The good: Wonderful concept to mash up nature with tech. The good: Kids have a great fundamental understanding of how to train AI models & apply it to a real world scenario: Birds. The goal of this camp, per the founder, was to raise awareness & appreciation for birds & to inspire others to appreciate birds & support conservation. Mission accomplished. The bad: Nothing. Wonderful initiative Trisha! Keep being you & inspiring others.
Great Initiative, kids were very excited @ home as well! Niya was playing the game at home and actually used my phone at home to create additional games. I feel like the combination on learning nature and AI at the same time was very smart and shows how both are so important and can live together at same time! Looking forward to more great initiatives like this, both kids loved it!! Thank you for all your dedication and hard work. We really did enjoy it!!
We loved being part of this unique experience - unique in so many ways, really special. Birding is something we never explored before, so this was a great learning experience for Kavya. It was refreshing to see so much thought being put into this camp - somehow blending group play/fun with nature, science and technology - making everyone think about the aspects of AI that are not taught in schools (at least AFAIK yet). Kavya got really motivated into exploring AI & using it to build her game, we're going to need some 'guardrails' now! Lastly, I totally had goosebumps & tears listening to Trisha give context & intro to this camp today. :)
